Chatterbox
Winter 2020
The chatterbox are musical critters that communicate with each other through your conducting.

Every Chatterbox has their own voice, character and way of interaction. Combine them and experiment in the many ways that the Chatterbox can be arranged. Lead them in their conversation and learn that the that they are great conversation starters in many ways that are discovered only by you being tactile and curious.

The limited tonality of the Chatterbox forces you to be creative in how you combine and play with these critters. The role of mediator is placed in your hands and with this the flow of the conversation. Will their song be random and sporadic or soft and melancholic?

The Chatterbox’ “brain” consists of 3 different pcb’s that all have their own task. The first one produces the “idle-noise” of the chatterbox, a kind of searching radio static that changes into a melodic song once you connect two different creatures. This is done by the relais which changes the signal to the 3rd pcb. This pcb creates the “voice” of the chatterbox, it consists of 3 different types of oscillators that are controlled by 2 Light dependant Resistors (LDR’s) that control pitch and volume.
